Study years - Stuttgart

In 1949, the apprenticeship years in Oberammergau came to an end. Wolfram registered for the Art Academy in Stuttgart, in Otto Baum’s sculpture class.

Here, he was part of a circle of friends for whom the central theme of their creative work was ‘Art and Religion’.

Wolfram particularly liked the closed form. His method of creating modern sculptures, painted in colour, went against all the trends of the time.

Along with making woodcuts, he became increasingly involved in the study of painting techniques, particularly wall painting and mosaics.
